Frequently asked questions
The answers are spelled out, including the ones that do not flatter us.
Is it really free?
Yes, entirely, and there is no paid tier waiting to be discovered later. No card details are asked for, no feature is held back for a higher plan, and no commission is taken on your covers. The service is funded by ViteUneTable, online booking from the same group, which you are never obliged to use.
Do I have to create an account?
No, you can create a menu without an account. Keep the edit link you are given. To find your menu on another device, sign in by email and attach it to that account while you still have access to the link. Creating an account after losing all access is not enough to recover an anonymous menu.
Can I change my prices and my dishes after printing?
Yes. Open your edit link, update your dishes and prices, then wait for confirmation that the changes have saved. The printed QR code keeps the same address.
Do my customers have to install an app?
No. They scan the code with their phone's camera and read an ordinary web page. The page is deliberately light so it stays readable on a poor connection, and it asks nothing of anyone.
What happens to my QR code if I rename the restaurant?
It keeps working. The public address is fixed at creation and does not follow the name, precisely because it is printed on your tables. Renaming the restaurant changes the displayed title and nothing else.
Is my menu public?
The published menu is public: the restaurant's name, the address, the phone number, the sections, the dishes, the prices and the photos are visible to anyone who has the link and can be indexed by search engines. Your account is not: your email address and your edit link are never displayed, and a visitor cannot tell who runs a menu.
Can I offer my menu in several languages?
Yes. The available languages are French, English, German, Spanish and Italian. You write the translations of section and dish names and descriptions. An untranslated field displays the original text. The names and introductions of the restaurant and its menus remain as you entered them. Nothing is translated automatically.
What happens if I delete my menu?
The printed QR code opens a page in your colours explaining that the menu is no longer available. If you delete a section or dish by mistake, an undo option appears for a few seconds.
Can I get my data back?
Yes, from the editor. JSON contains the restaurant details, menus, dishes and their translations. CSV lists dishes in rows for a spreadsheet. Photos are referenced by links rather than included in these files, so keep your own copies of the images.
What do you do with my email address?
Your address is used to send sign-in links and help you find the menus attached to your account. It is not published on your menu or sold.
Will my menu show up on Google?
It can, once it is filled in enough: a nearly empty menu is not offered to the index, which protects the quality of the whole service. Either way it stays public, shareable and perfectly readable behind its QR code.
How long does my menu stay online?
For as long as you keep it up to date, with no time limit. The terms of use provide that a menu left without any change for twenty-four months may be taken down, with a notice visible on its own page for thirty days beforehand, and no automatic deletion is running today.
What are the limits of the service?
LFMenu publishes a menu: it does not take orders or payments, or manage stock. The importer accepts pasted text, not files or photos, and you need to check its preview. Images, text and imports have technical limits; the forms display errors when these are exceeded. You write your own translations.
A question that is not here?
The terms of use set out what the service promises and what it does not. You can also report or claim a menu from the bottom of any public page.
The simplest thing is to try it
Create a menu without an account, add a few dishes and check the result before printing.
